Purchase and install a trusted Spyware detection tool.  Such as Microsoft's program. - This is not always the easiest or cheapest way to go so follow these guidelines if you do not have a spyware detection tool.

1. Do not open any kind of email attachments from anyone that you do not know.

2. Turn off the preview functionality of your email.

3. Do not search around for free pictures, software etc. on sites that are not trustworthy.

4 If at any time you get a screen that tells you that spyware has been detected on your computer and click here to clean it (if it is not on a trusted program that you already own) - IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER BY HOLDING DOWN THE POWER SWITCH FOR 5 SECONDS.  Turn your computer back on and do not go back to the website or email where that message started from.
