Keeping Pace with Social Media Using My New Web Browser - Flock
Flock is a browser that was specifically designed to make social media on the web easier through your browser. Flock's website touts it as a "Social Web Browser".
To be honest I have always been the type of webmaster that felt if 95%+ of everyones market is using Internet Explorer (IE) then that is what I will use to insure I see my sites as most of my customers see my site. Of course I test in other browsers, but Internet Explorer has always been my browser of choice. At least until I needed to become a more social media aware marketer and that was when I was introduced to Flock. I can now say that I use Flock instead of IE and I have not looked back. I like all of the additional functionality that can be installed in flock using FireFox plug-ins and other plug-ins for Mozillia. In another article we will discuss improving your Flock through the use of plug-ins, but for now I wanted to introduce you to Flock as an optional browser.

As you can see in the graphic above the great thing about the Flock Browser are the plug-ins that allow you to keep up with Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and other Social Media websites. Those plug-ins also allow you to have open access to your AIM, Windows Messenger or Yahoo Instant Messengers. And if that is not enough the plug-ins can let you tune into your webmail client if you use Google, Hotmail or Yahoo Mail. And that is just one of the many plug-ins that is available.
The core of the Flock browser gives you a Social Media "My World" page that allows you to search Twitter, Favorite RSS Feeds and Favorite Media sections. This allows you to tune into one page within your browser and keep up with most any social media content that you want to keep track of. Now instead of having to remember all of the addresses I want to keep track of, because I hate favorite folders, Flock lets me set up my root settings which then keeps the content coming to me by just flipping over to the My World page.
