SEO - How do I get listed or how do I show up in the Search Engine Return Pages for more cities than the one that I have successfully conquered?

I have my site listed locally for the city that I am doing business in - now how do I get listed or how do I show up in the Search Engine Return Pages for more cities than the one that I have successfully conquered?

OK, I would say let’s do this. – the first paragraph is the idea to increase other city keyword searches. The rest is a list of SEO things that I put together for general rules.

At the bottom of each blog article or page of content that this could apply to. Let’s add a paragraph that talks about the area that we want to highlight SEO for. For example: let’s go back to the first article on the blog and add a paragraph on the bottom talking about the North Dallas Tollway area north of the 121. We can talk about Frisco, The Colony, Prosper, Little Elm, Denton and others. Word it like you have had customers from each and that they have all enjoyed their trips to XXXX. Or it could be worded and phrased that access to the airport is very easy from the xxx area and the xxx are… Adding some freeways and other landmarks also tie into things that people will search on. “Travel Agent North Texas” “Travel Agent 121 area”

By doing the addition to the blog they become multi purpose. We will need to make sure that the main ‘city’ ends up in the title of the blog and we will want to add a couple of extra pictures that have some of the city keywords into the blog.

1.       Whenever doing SEO, always theme things. Work on a set of themes e.g. Destination Travel to Mexico….xxx resort from XXX area.
2.       Always name the picture files the main keywords that you are working on
3.       Always complete the Alt Tag portion of the images with a subset of the keywords that the image is named using
4.       Always complete the long description of the image using the same keywords in a more descriptive sentence
5.       Always make sure the Page Title includes the keywords that you are working on
6.       Always make sure that there are <H1> style tags that have the most important keywords as a topic headline in the content
7.       Use <H2>, <H3>, <H4> style tags to support the synonyms and other important keywords on the page
8.       Write the text so that it can be “summarized” top down using the style tags, bolding, bulleting etc. Both for readability and to indicate to the search engines the hierarchy of the page/information.
9.       Try not to just focus on a keyword…but synonyms of the keyword on the same page all within the text of the page. E.g. Destination Travel & Exploration Vacations & Adventure Trips are all ways to kind of say the same thing.
10.   Use a true keyword set only 1-2 times in the text of any article and for any article where you are using the keyword set example “Destination Travel to Cancun Mexico” make sure that those 5 words show twice in that exact order and that there are 350 - 500 other words on the page.
11.   We have to go into the settings of the page…but on every page the settings of the page including the Page Title, Description and Keyword meta tags should be completed and UNIQUE for each page.
12.   All text across the pages that you want to score with on the search engines should be UNIQUE. You do not want to take the same articles and go post them on other sites/blogs. Make unique articles for each site. Especially do not create a blog on another site…let it sit there for a few weeks and then copy the content onto your site. Your site and then the other site, maybe. It is better for the content of both to be unique…unless they are picking the article up from your site through RSS. Which will then have links back to your site telling the search engine who is the author…originator of the content.

That’s it for now. I might add more to it later.
